As Managing Director, IDC Insights Asia Pacific, and Head International for IDC Manufacturing Insights, Dr Christopher Holmes is responsible for the research direction for IDC’s Energy, Government, Health, Manufacturing, and Retail Insights units within the Asia Pacific Region, and Internationally for the Manufacturing Practice, providing regional, fact-based research and analysis on best practices and the use of information technology that assists clients in improving their capabilities in key process areas.
Prior to joining IDC, Dr Holmes worked at the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech), where he pioneered the use of technology roadmapping within Singapore Industry to help companies match their business needs with technology. Before relocating to Singapore, he worked in the aerospace sector in the UK.
Dr. Holmes holds a Doctor of Engineering (EngD) degree from Warwick University, UK, focused on the application of lean manufacturing techniques within product development. This was completed while he was working in the industry and as part of the Warwick Manufacturing Group. He also holds a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree from the University of Glamorgan, UK and a Bachelor of Science degree from The City of Birmingham Polytechnic, UK.
