All our 18 courses are in-person, Rutgers EMBA Program is in-person. The students have found that they learn almost as much from each other as from the professors. Being in-person during the four full days over the weekends and two weeknights for each course, and given the four breaks per day in Emba, it is no wonder that virtually all the job placement and job transitioning happens thanks to class connections and the constant networking. In fact, our EMBAs were the first ones to want to come back in-person following Covid! More information at our in-person Open Houses, where you get to interact with the current students.

Short answer: Yes! We have been repeatedly ranked #1 in “Quality of Life” by Ivy Exec (New York) for all EMBA programs in the Northeast. The additional work (outside class) would be 7-10 hours per week. Our advice is to just stay with your notes daily. The big difference between Rutgers EMBA (The Powerhouse) and other EMBA programs is that our mantra is “what we cover in class today will be used by you at work next week.” This self-imposed charter has, in fact, driven our strategy and has garnered continuous global rankings for The Powerhouse since 2005. If you have to travel, we will work with you. If you are swamped at work, we will work with you.

Please visit an Open House and speak directly to current students for more feedback.

At the last open house for the New Jersey EMBA Program – it happened to be an online event on a Saturday – one of the current students was scheduled to speak to the attendees for a few minutes. He was doing so from his SUV, bringing his kids home from swimming. Later in the conversation, he had to head to Shoprite! By the time the session ended, one of the attendees had the same question as above, and he (now finally home) addressed it with: “Look, I am an executive in a major pharmaceutical company with a demanding job and I have four kids—the youngest was born just literally days before I started Rutgers EMBA. This is not an exceptional day for me—this is a TYPICAL day for me. If I can do it, anyone can!”

Prof. Langdana (EMBA Director): “There will never be a totally optimum time. Many years ago, at a Rutgers EMBA open house, one of the current students answered this question perfectly. She responded to the query from one of the open house attendees with: ‘Doing an EMBA program is like getting married or having a baby. There is no perfect time. You know you have to do it, so you do it. A finely tuned, world-class and practical EMBA program that is globally ranked like Rutgers EMBA will give you real confidence and powerful finance/strategy/marketing/supply chain and Executive Skills to make it to the C-suite where we all want to be!’

For the record, you will be awarded the MBA degree when you graduate. On your resume you will state that you have an MBA from the Rutgers Executive MBA Program. All employers will immediately know what that means!

And regarding your question: “Do I really need this?” Yes, if you are trying to make a major job transition—say, from doing surgery to running a hospital, or from science and technology to senior leadership where Finance, Strategy, Accounting, New Technology such as AI and Big Data, Leadership, etc., are necessary. Or you simply want to launch your dream start-up; you are fed up with working for a big company….or vice versa? Then The Powerhouse is for you. In fact, our faculty is dedicated to guide you through your career transition!

If you are happy where you are at work and are wearing “many hats”— engineering, sales, HR, strategy, legal, IT, consulting, supply chain, to name a few—and are basically “making it up” as you go along, then you need Rutgers EMBA to give you the real high-powered practical tools to move up faster and better at work. Rutgers EMBA is perfect for Career Accelerators! For more from the current students and alumni, please come by and visit us at our open houses. Sign up below.

The best answer is “please visit an information session”, but quickly for now:

(i) We are all in-person, and if Covid were to re-appear, we will again be live online. We are never ever recorded.

(ii) Furthermore, unlike much of our global competition, we do not simply “cut and paste” the courses from the US to Singapore. The courses hare are carefully re-engineered for mid-senior-level executives and managers who operate in not just an Asian-centric universe but also globally.

(iii) And the rankings reflect our continuous determination—we have been in Singapore now since 2010 to constantly upgrade our curriculum to address the ever-changing challenges of the digitally transformed global workplace.

(iv) Many EMBA programs are characterized by brutal “dog eat dog” competition. Not so in the Rutgers programs both here in Singapore and in New Jersey. Our executive programs are exceedingly collaborative and the alumni have stayed together and strongly networked for years. In fact, even as an applicant you are welcome to any/all alumni events to experience this lifelong networking and camaraderie, firsthand.

We invite prospective applicants to come to our open houses, held monthly. This will allow you to learn more about the program, mingle with existing students and audit an EMBA class so that you can make an informed decision.

We are excited to announce our Rutgers EMBA pandemic era special scholarship, worth S$28,500 for eligible applicants who confirm their enrolment to our globally ranked Executive MBA program in Singapore for the 2022 intake. Thanks to our Dean Lei Lai and Vice Dean Can Uslay for this very generous offer. With this promotion, the tuition fee will be at a record low S$49,500 (before GST) for qualified applicants. There are only ten scholarships available for the Intake of 2022! Sign up now, before the scholarships go! For more information, please contact the Rutgers Business School Asia Pacific office.

Program Delivery FAQs

Most of the professors are from Rutgers Business School, NJ, USA, and some are from Singapore, Spain and Australia too. The philosophy for our EMBA staffing is to put “best in class” professors always, no matter where they are based. This means deploying professors in class who can not only disseminate cutting-edge information but can also successfully leverage the inherent work experience embedded in the executive MBA students themselves. This allows for a bi-level “learning environment” —from professors to students and then between students themselves.

All course notes and textbooks will be provided to students. Typically, course materials are issued to students in advance to allow students to do pre-reading before the class begins. In addition, students have access to the university’s Blackboard and the E-Library resources.

The assessment is made up of coursework and examinations. The coursework component may include quizzes, class participation/presentations, assignments. The final examination is typically taken on the last Sunday of the class.

Attendance is compulsory for all classes. From above, the coursework component may occur throughout the module and contributes to the overall grade for the module. The course schedule is provided in advance for students to plan their work schedule accordingly. For extenuating circumstances, special arrangements/ considerations may be made on a case-by-case basis as determined by the professors.
